Mr. Kimbowa Richard is a man whose journey beautifully blends passion, science, and service. From the dusty pitches of Uganda to the global stage, his story reflects resilience, innovation, and an unshakable love for the beautiful game.
He began his football journey as a coach at just 16 years old, nurturing young talent and instilling discipline and creativity in the next generation. His deep understanding of the game led him to a successful 10-year career as a top-level referee in Ugandan football, earning respect for his fairness, professionalism, and commitment to integrity on and off the field.
Beyond the whistle, Richard’s curiosity and intellect drove him into the world of science. He became a Nuclear Medicine Specialist, merging analytical precision with human compassion in healthcare. Later, he advanced his academic and analytical expertise as a Soccer Data Scientist with the University of Barcelona, where he explores how technology and performance data can shape the future of the sport.
Today, he continues to champion both football and community development. As the Founder of the Local Football Appreciation Awards (LFA Awards) Uganda, Richard created a platform to recognize the unsung heroes of the game — players, coaches, referees, and fans — whose efforts inspire unity and pride across the nation.
Now based partly in the United States, he serves as a Regional Board Member at AYSO Bullhead City and a Certified Referee, continuing his mission to promote fair play, mentorship, and global exchange in grassroots football.
Driven by passion and purpose, Mr. Kimbowa Richard stands as a bridge between science and sport — a proud advocate for Uganda’s local soccer and a symbol of how dedication can turn vision into legacy.
