In a field traditionally dominated by men, a remarkable group of women is changing the narrative—one powerful image at a time. The Best Female Football Photographer Award recognises the vision, skill, and dedication of women capturing Uganda’s beautiful game through the lens. Whether witchside in Dar es Salaam, under stadium floodlights during qualifiers, or at local league games, these women have proven that they belong at the very heart of football storytelling.

This year’s nominees have not only excelled in still photography, but have also contributed to building media platforms, managing club branding, and visually archiving the growth of women’s football. Their work has been pivotal in elevating the game and giving it the visibility it deserves.

Kamira Asha – Radio FM & Zaabu Sports
Kamira Asha is not just a photographer; she is a creative powerhouse. Formerly with She Corporate FC where she juggled roles as a graphics designer, social media manager, and official photographer, Asha has built a remarkable portfolio that spans the continent and beyond.
She has covered: CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers (2022) – Dar es Salaam, CAF U-17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) 2025, International Academies Tournament – Dubai, FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (2026), U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, WAFCON 2026 Qualifiers, FUFA Super League & Women’s Super League.
Her photos not only capture the game’s most decisive moments, but they also tell stories of resilience, joy, and progress in women’s football. Asha is a trailblazer who continues to push boundaries across East African football media.

Vanessa Nagirinya – SportsNation
Vanessa Nagirinya brings a sharp eye and a deep passion for storytelling to her role at SportsNation, one of Uganda’s fastest-growing online sports platforms. She has developed a loyal audience thanks to her evocative action shots and human-centred images that go beyond the scoreline. Vanessa represents a new era of digital sports media where female photographers are not just contributors—but leaders.

Sandra Awor – Kitara FC
From Vipers SC to Kitara FC, Sandra Awor has built an impressive career across club media departments. Currently working for Kitara Football Club in Hoima, Sandra’s camera work reflects her deep understanding of club culture and fan emotion. Her earlier work at Juice FM and experience in club communications have made her a vital voice in Ugandan football media. Sandra’s dual role as a photographer and media officer allows her to frame the game both visually and narratively.

Lillian Nakitende – Sports Life
Representing the grassroots heartbeat of the game, Lillian Nakitende has carved her name as one of the hardest-working female football photographers in the country. Working with Sports Life, she consistently covers a wide range of leagues, including: Finance Trust FUFA Women’s Super League, FUFA Women’s Elite League, FUFA Super League.
Lillian’s commitment to consistently document local matches is a testament to her passion for growing the game and ensuring the moments that matter are not lost to time.
